Children are given prizes for coming first. These are for reading widely, telling a story of your own, cooking something with the people you love, learning a language, being curious about somewhere you have never been, wanting to know what happened there long ago, and looking after someone else.
For ages three to seventeen. Nominated by a parent, written by the child.
Every child recognised is named a 2027 Storytime Honoree, in their category and their age band. Judged within a band and never across one, because the bands are the three series, and that is already where this imprint divides a childhood.
For reading widely, and for reading often. The child who finishes one book and immediately wants the next.
For writing, drawing or telling a story of their own. It does not have to be finished, and it does not have to be long.
For cooking something with a grown-up, for learning a dish that belongs to your family, or for being brave about a food you had never tried before.
For learning a language, or for keeping a family's language alive at home.
For curiosity about somewhere else. For wanting to know how another country lives, what its stories are, and why it does things differently.
For wanting to know what happened here before you did. For the child who asks how long ago, and then asks what happened next.
For something done for someone else, at home, at school or in the community, whether or not anybody noticed at the time.
They pick a category and say what they did, in their own words. This is the part that should happen at the kitchen table.
Nominations are made from a parent's Storytime account, never by a child directly. A grown-up reads every entry before it leaves the house.
Every nomination is read by someone here. Nothing appears on this site automatically.
Where a child is recognised here, they are named by first name and age only. Never a surname, never a school, never a town, never a photograph. Nothing a stranger could use to find a child is collected, and so nothing of the kind can be published.
Nominations are made from a parent’s account, so the adult responsible for the child is the person submitting. That is also why there is no form on this page yet: it belongs behind an account, and accounts are being built.
